Wang Yi Inspects the Development of Border Ports in Guangxi

On April 5, 2024, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi stressed during his inspection of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region that it is necessary to thoroughly implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping during his visit to Guangxi, continue to strengthen the development of border ports, and constantly inject new impetus to promote Guangxi's high-standard opening up, promote China-ASEAN cooperation, and facilitate the operation of the market that integrates domestic and international circulations.

Wang Yi made field visits to the Youyi Pass Smart Port Construction Program, Chongzuo Area of China-ASEAN Industrial Cooperation Zone, Pingxiang Comprehensive Free Trade Zone, China-ASEAN (Chongzuo) Fruit Trading Center, Pingxiang Railway Port, China-Viet Nam Detian (Ban Gioc) Waterfall cross-border tourism cooperation zone, and others, and held a symposium to listen to the opinions and suggestions of relevant departments, grass-roots units and frontline staff in Guangxi.

Wang Yi said that Guangxi, as a key province on China's southwest border and an important "gateway" for exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN, occupies a unique position and undertakes a glorious mission in national development and diplomacy. Efforts should be made to follow the requirements of General Secretary Xi Jinping, actively serve the building of a China-ASEAN community with a shared future, deeply integrate into the Belt and Road cooperation, continuously boost the well-established credentials of the China-ASEAN Expo, and build a major international channel open to ASEAN.

Wang Yi stressed that Guangxi should strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Viet Nam, cement public support and social foundation for friendly relations between China-Viet Nam, continuously improve cross-border infrastructure connectivity, strive to build border ports featuring wisdom and convenience, complex development, friendly exchanges and comprehensive security, and make greater contributions to building a China-Viet Nam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

Wang Yi said that the foreign service will, in accordance with the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, further increase efforts to assist Guangxi in promoting external connectivity, cultivating more foreign affairs talents, and strengthening international exchanges and cooperation, to help Guangxi accelerate high-quality development.
