On the afternoon of March 25, 2024, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit, who is in China for an official visit, at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping noted that Dominica is an important country in the Caribbean region, as well as a trustworthy good friend and partner of China in the region. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 20 years ago, China and Dominica have always respected each other and treated each other as equals. With increasingly stronger political mutual trust, vigorous exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and increasingly deepening friendship between the two peoples, China-Dominica relations have become a good example of South-South cooperation. China highly appreciates Dominica's steadfast friendship with China, and China is ready to work with Dominica to summarize the successful experience of the past 20 years in the development of bilateral relations, strengthen synergy of development strategies, turn the friendly relations into a driving force for win-win cooperation, promote China-Dominica relations to achieve more results, and bring more benefits to the two peoples.

Xi Jinping stressed that the key to the smooth development of China-Dominica relations lies in a high level of political mutual trust, as well as in mutual understanding and support on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns. China firmly supports the people of Dominica in following a development path suited to their national conditions, and stands ready to bolster friendly exchanges and strengthen the sharing of experience on state governance with Dominica. China welcomes Dominica to board the "express train" of Chinese modernization to expand bilateral cooperation in fields such as economy and trade, infrastructure construction, agriculture and health care. China is ready to continue to provide assistance within its capacity for Dominica's economic and social development. China is ready to expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges with Dominica, welcomes more young students of Dominica to study in China, and will continue to provide scholarships, training and other opportunities for Dominica. The two sides should work together to develop the Confucius Classroom at the Dominica State College, and explore more cooperation on vocational and technical training in Dominica.

Xi Jinping emphasized that China advocates an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, and holds that all countries, big or small, strong or weak, are equal members of the international community. China attaches importance to the concerns and demands of small island developing states in the field of climate change, supports Dominica in playing an active role in international and regional affairs, and stands ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation and deepen South-South cooperation with Dominica to safeguard the common interests of developing countries, and advance the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. China attaches great importance to its relations with Caribbean countries, appreciates Dominica's important role in promoting China-Caribbean cooperation during Dominica's rotating chairmanship of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), and will continue to support countries in the Caribbean region in seeking national prosperity and development and improving people's well-being.

Skerrit said that he made the right decision to establish diplomatic relations with China 20 years ago, and that he was glad to visit China again on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Dominica and China. Dominica-China relations are based on mutual trust, mutual respect, and mutual support. Over the past 20 years, Dominica-China relations have been continuously enriched with fruitful results. China, as a great country, has not only made remarkable achievements in areas such as poverty alleviation and development, but also made important contributions to the peace and development of Dominica, other Latin American countries and the world at large. He thanked China for always standing firmly with the people of Dominica and providing valuable assistance and support at the earliest opportunity when they are suffering from natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic. China's support and cooperation can be seen everywhere in Dominica and have greatly helped Dominica safeguard its independence and development. Dominica highly appreciates the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind and a series of global initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping, which are crucial to strengthening solidarity and cooperation and jointly promoting development and prosperity in today's world. Dominica firmly abides by the one-China principle, supports China's just cause of achieving complete reunification, and opposes any interference in China's internal affairs. Dominica is ready to work with China to enhance strategic communication, deepen the friendship between the peoples, strengthen comprehensive cooperation, be all-weather strategic partners, and bring Dominica-China relations to higher levels.
